I suggest you ask the host for rules before playing, because some might have special rules and bans.

There is a universal ban on the "Tube". The tube refers to grenade launchers, the ones attached on rifles, its called the tube because... well... its launched from a tube! If you still don't get what i'm taking about... this is it

M16A4 with M203. Press 5 to use the "Tube".

Poom! Boom! The car is totally devestated... so will you when launched at you more that 3 paces away.

Here is the AK version, the GP-30

People that use the tube are called "Tubers" (like a potato :P), and the RPG is not a tube, although it launched from a tube.... the RPG requires a bit of skill to use.

Why is tubes banned? Well its because dosen't require any skill to use. You don't even need to aim... just fire it to the vicinity of your enemy... and boom. Dual kill. Upclose? Poom! 40mm grenade hitting your chest with the force of a sledgehammer, Insta-kill.

If you use it in a server where its banned... instant kick. Worst still... PermaBan!

Some hosts also bans the P90. Some people feel that its too unbalanced, good accuracy, good damage, extreme rate of fire, super fast reload time, 50 round mag. It annoys some people. I'm ok with it though... i don't ban it in my server. Here is a P90, if you are not a gun person.......

I tolerate P90s in my server... but not Martyrdom... stupid dumbshit noob perk. LOL... yeah.. i get really annoyed by it. It is useful when it does what you want it too... blow up enemy after they kill you... but it gets really annoying when your team mate blows up infront, killing you as well, while you are sniping or....... doing anything. Its a stupid perk... you tend to value your 'life' less when you use it. Rush to enemy base... die... enemy run away... boom... they get the kill. AND. YOU. JUST. DIE. Noobs use it. Don't use it. Please.

Boom!

Another perk that i dislike is Last Stand. What it does: when you inflict a leathal amount of damage by shooting you (dosen't work with, knife shanks, headshots, and explosive kills), you get 15 seconds to shoot him back before you die... in that time... you can be killed with any amount of damage... like a flashbang hitting you (direct impact kill). Haiz... if you are dead... just DIE!

Last Stand...

One weapon that should be banned but is not banned anywhere is the RPD machine-gun (the one with the wood)... its quite unbalanced to me... High Damage, Long range, as accurate as G3 if you fire single shots, 100 rounds, can go full auto with a respectable rate off fire. Very useful weapon.... but no one use it much....

Special thanks to *MonSter* PinG for posing for these shots.

Ammo Sharing

Some weapon in COD4 fire the same rounds. So weapons that fire the same round, can share ammo. This is kind of unrealistic in the real world cause you'd need to remove the rounds from the magazine and what not.. but who the f cares, its just a game. Ammo sharing is quite convenient too... carry two weapons with the same ammo = more ammo for the weapon you use more... walk over any gun that use the same ammo... you pick up ammo. Ok, i think you get the idea... so here are the guns that share ammo.

9mm x 19 Parabellum: M9 (or Berretta 92FS, the handgun) , MP5, Mini-Uzi

5.56mm x 45 NATO: M16A4, M4, G36C

7.62mm x 51 NATO: G3, M14, M21, M40A3, R700

And I'm not going to tell you what rounds the other weapons fire... Rushing is a term that somebody came up with to describe shooting while running about and not staying put. Rushing is basically the opposite of sniping or camping.

The trick to being a successful 'rusher' is NOT to rush from point A to point B. No, its about killing any enemy you see while you move about. Always keep yourself mobile and keep a lookout for enemy. Move, move, move.

Basically there is 2 types of rushers. Those who move to get as close to the enemy (for either a knife or a headshot) and those who move to get from one position to another, stopping and shooting, fire and manoeuvre. I would not be explaining the latter because its the normal way of playing and doesn't require any special technique.

If you wish to get close to your enemy for a knife kill you'll need to be a 'Ghost' or a 'Ninja'. Being quick here, is not important. A bullet is faster. Being stealthy... is the key.

The most basic Ghost/Ninja pack is as so...
(Perk 1 can be anything... Triple Stun, Bomb Squad, whatever you like)

My personal pack is this...

Whats the trade off? Damage and Range. M4 has a better range, whereas MP5 has higher damage. With higher range i can engage futher targets... I use abit of the 2 rushing tactics. But i still need more bullets to kill so i put Bandoiler and... i lose a wee bit of mobility.

Recomended Pack
The reason why I've choose MP5 or Uzi to go with the M9 is because they share the same ammo. All three weapons fire the 9mm. The primary weapon can use the handguns ammo, thus you'll get a clip or so extra. Automatic weapons would also be more useful to rushers as you'll get alot of close enconters where you'll need to fire and move at the same time. Spraying beat accurate single shots in close quarters most of the time. (you'll be to panic-ky to aim right)

Silencers isn't there just to look cool. Unlike CS, they actually serve a purpose here in COD4. In Normal mode, with a silencer on, you will not appear as a red dot in the map as you fire. The silencer also decreases muzzle flash and is, obviously, much silent.

Say you are stalking your enemy and you've fired a burst but it missed, there is pretty big chance that your enemy didn't notice that you were firing at him because he didn't hear it... if you have a silencer on. Ahah........ However, with silencers on, your range will be reduced quite significantly, so choose stronger weapons or match it with Stopping Power (which I don't recommend, because you'll lose UAV Jammer).

With a silencer on, you can't attach a Red Dot Sight as well, so choose guns with good iron sights (I prefer the iron sights on the MP5 than the Uzi). Which gun has better iron sights is pretty relative. Different people have different taste, but i prefer ones with a fine and thin foresights (MP5, M16, M4, M14, G3).

Right. Back to Perks.
Some writers would advice you to use Bomb Squad and Deep Penetration, to take out hidden Claymores and C4 to get to a sniper/camper. In the end, you'll still need to shoot the thing and make a loud noise alerting the sniper/camper of you presence. I'd advice you to learn all popular claymore spots and anticipate. It is quite possible to sprint past poorly positioned Claymores. I've included Extreme Conditioning for me to cut the distance between me and my quarry allowing me to catch up with him and to pop his head upclose or tag him with my knife. You can also sprint past fire zones and get to the bomb faster in SnD and Sabotage.

NEVER underestimate UAV Jammer. Its a vital perk for Ghost/Ninja 's everywhere. I've played matches where I order a UAV and see absolutely nothing. Its scary. With UAV Jammer you can rest assured that no one will see you coming. There are cases where I killed people by sneaking behind them with enemy UAV up. They thought i was hacking or something.

Some rushers would use Jaggernaut. Rush straight into an enemy hideout and kill everyone in there and come out still alive (imagine Killhouse). Good idea... if you are playing Normal mode that is. In Hardcore, Jaggernaut is almost redundant. 2 rounds in the chest upclose will kill you. (in Hardcore, snipers can kill Jaggernauts with one clean shot, from any distance)

I advice against using Dead Silence. Its pretty useless. In an experiment with my buddy, we've found that with Dead Silence on your enemy can still hear sprinting noises, knifing and reloads (we used headsets). Whereas while you are crouching, with or without Dead Silence, you'll be as quiet as a cat. So why bother? Just crouch!

So that all about perks for rushing from me. I hope you find this helpful.
For more info on perks, go http://www.cod4central.com/cod4-perks.php

Sniping in WetWork

First of all, this guide is made for beginners or people that are humble enough to call themselves noobs. So I don't want hear anybody especially people who call themselves 'pros' bitching about how lame I am or how much I suck.

Right. With that out of the way lets talk about sniping, specifically, in Wet Work. Wet Work is one of the easiest places to snipe at, and to get a 10+ killstreak. The enemy is always in the opposite side, and sniping spots are limited.

Call of Duty is not Counter-Strike. Sniping here is not a matter of holding a large sniper rifle and shooting like a gorilla. Sniping in COD4 is an art form. Like in real life, you'll need to hold your breath to get a straight shot. And where you snipe from is not only important, its vital for your survival.

COD4 maps are also larger and more detailed than Counter-Strike. In the right spots, you can be literally invisible. Hence its important to train your eye to look for subtle changes in the map, a head, an arm sticking out, etc. Here are some examples of how small characters can look in COD4. And I'll also be showing popular sniping spots in Wet Work.

See him? That guy is actually standing up. Quite obvious too, for an experienced player.

There. He's down. If you are playing in servers filled with experienced players, don't expect them to be standing up like this. Most of them would be sniping from a crouched position like this.

From a crouched position, you'll see nothing but a bump. A bump perhaps 20 pixel in diameter. That would be his head peeking out. Still can't see anything?

Boom. Headshot.

Here is a common spot to hide in if you are playing as Spetsnats, keep in mind, the battle space is fluid, teams often switch sides in combat. At this spot, you are exposed to both sides of the ship. Stick to the right corner if you wish to snipe only one side. The corner will shield you from the other.

Sometimes, people will snipe from the center mast. Like so.

Pop! There goes his head. Beautiful blood splatter pattern ala Jackson Pollock.

People also can snipe from the ground floor, here...

and here. Take note: they can do the same on the other side, it'll be pretty redundant to show you both.

Another popular spot would be from the stairs in the center. There are four sets of stairs that snipers can hide themselves at. So be careful, don't be too focused on the top floor.

Some of the more adventurous ones might jump up to that container. It takes some practice to get up there, but its not really worth going... its a lousy spot to snipe from; its to exposed.

I prefer to play as S.A.S in Wet Work, because I get the higher ground and I only need one Claymore to cover my ass. I'll talk about Claymore placements if there is any demand for it.

There is very little spots that Spetsnats can snipe from, whereas SAS can snipe from all the spots that I've mentioned.

The usual spots are here...

and here

take note, i am talking about both sides, like i said earlier, its quite redundant to show you both. Dumb people might also decide that its ok to snipe from the balcony. Don't. Spetsnats can also snipe from the stairs in the center, some would call it the 'bridge'.

Ok. Lets talk about Perks.

The most ideal Perks and weapons for sniping would be the following:

M40A3 (normal scope, NEVER use ACOG for sniping, its retarded)
G3 + Silencer (G3 or M14, so you can share ammo with the M40A3/R700/M21)
Claymore (Sniper's best friend)
Overkill
Iron Lungs

However if you've just started and haven't unlocked Overkill, stick with UAV Jammer. Some people can live without Iron Lungs, but I can't. So use it when you have it. Look forward to Claymores... its vital for a sniper's survival.

If you've just unlocked M21. Make sure you match it with Stopping Power, because its not strong enough to deliver a 1 shot kill from a distance, even in Hardcore mode.

My Sargent sniping pack is as so.

M21
USP + Silencer
C4
Stopping Power
Extreme Conditioning (for rushing from one camping spot to another)

Never use Steady Aim. Its for automatic firing from the hip (as in not aiming), NOT SNIPING. Even with Steady Aim, the spread and accuracy when you fire automatically, only improves by a weeeeee bit. Forget it. Extreme Conditioning is better.

Special thanks to iKill for volunteering for this demonstration.

ATKR

This blog is made to take up my pseudonym: ATKR which is read as Attacker, copying this would be a breach of copyright.
